George Jacobs has been in the real estate industry since 1974.

George Jacobs has been in the real estate industry since 1974. He spent most of the 1980s as a principal with Hartz Mountain Industries where he was a partner and active in the development of over 20 million square feet. Mr. Jacobs started Jacobs Enterprises (“JEI”) in 1990. Currently, he is managing member of a $100 million+ (equity) acquisition and development fund seeking out real estate investment and development opportunities. His most prominent recent projects (all NJ): Teachers Village, Newark; Glenwood Village, Bloomfield; Styertowne Shopping Center and Apartments, Clifton; Livingston Town Center, Livingston; and Pointe Grande Center, Elizabeth.

He received his BA, (Phi Beta Kappa) Rutgers; MCRP, Harvard University; and MBA, Rutgers. He is a NJ-licensed Planner and Real Estate Broker in NJ and PA. He is a Counselor of Real Estate, one of the nation’s 1500 members, and served as NJ’s President in 2006-7. He speaks regularly at NYU, Columbia University, Monmouth University and Rutgers University. He served as a Condemnation Commissioner, Essex County, and on the Passaic County Comprehensive Economic Development Commission. He serves on the Advisory Board of Provident Bank.

He was a Trustee of St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic prior to its sale. He also served as a Governor’s Commissioner on the Business Employment and Incentive Program (“BEIP Commission”) and the Governor’s Greyfields Task Force, former Co-Chairman of the ICSC’s Alliance Program, current member of both the ICSC PAC and NAIOP’s DPAC, trustee of the NJ Apartment Association and a member of the Smart Growth Coalition. He is the ICSC’s NJ State Chairman of Government Relations.

Finally, he is on the Executive Committee of the Rutgers Center for Real Estate and also teaches a graduate-level course in real estate development at Rutgers.
